It was his fourth day in the office for Ady. He was hired to develop a software in a technology that he did not have any expertise in. Market was very competitive. Manager asked for an introduction of the plan of the work. In this first week itself, Ady could feel the high expectation from the client.
Ady prepared himself to reach his new office on the first day. It was his fourth job in the IT industry. Manager greeted Ady with due respect and introduced him to the team members. While having a short conversation with him, Ady could figure out how much company has been waiting for him to join today. It was a tough market. Getting a job these days was not an easy task, even for this contract job of only for three months. Ady really wanted to survive in this job. But how? His previous experience was on other technologies, not the one for that he was hired here.
Day two. Office meeting with experts in the technology. Twenty people in the room to discuss the plan for the new website for that Ady was newly appointed key developer. It was a brainstorming session with many ideas on the table. All those brilliantly marked ideas in the room were like a horror movie for Ady because he didn’t know enough about this technology.
That one hour meeting seemed to be like a 5 hour meeting. Clock was ticking so slowly. Ady was just writing down all the points. There were many questions on the faces of people in the room, expecting Ady to resolve it all. On this second day itself, Ady had all the initial setup done. Everyone was looking at him to perform. Ady took a long walk and made a plan. It’s tough to survive here. Not sure how long he can survive. His walking speed was too slow as he was thinking a lot while walking. It almost appeared as if he was walking in a slow-motion style movie.
Ady recalled all his tough times in the past, to get clues to survive in this job. He called some friends but could not get any help. One friend advised him on a brilliant idea. The day tight compartment. Means, just live for the day. Oh yes, that reminded Ady about his pre-college time when he was upset with his results. He lived life for the day. Ady still remembers the day he was sitting on a railway platform all alone. He was upset and was passing by a bookstore where he saw the book, “ Stop worrying, start living” by Dale Carnegie. It was the first chapter about living life for the day and not to plan for more than that.
