Is everything really written in the destiny

How many of us believe in the destiny?  If everything is really already written what's going to happen in the future?
The year 2000. Ady graduated from the college, with bachelor's degree. The day he graduated, his father happily congratulated him and said, "Son, I am very happy, two things happened today: first, you are a young graduate engineer now,  and second, I am free from your financial responsibilities. That day, Ady felt for a moment, is his father really his father?  Well, later in his life, he realized, his father did it for his good, but that realization took some time.
Ady was completely confused, what to do in the life, what to become: should he be enrolled in an MBA, look for a government job or a private job, or try a small startup? He used to live life in today, with the mantra, "enjoy the life today to the fullest." But now, it was the time to move on and take a decision, for the future.
He decided to meet his college senior who graduated six years ago. His college senior listened to him patiently, then smiled back and said " Relax Ady, don’t worry my friend, it’s all in the destiny. "If it's all in the destiny, then who can tell me what is my destiny", Ady asked. "Good question", senior said, while passing Ady, a phone number of the great astrologer in the city, Paramhansa Bhavishayananda Guruji.
Ady was curious to know all about his future. He called astrologer, took an appointment. His visit to the astrologer was very dramatic and memorable. One assistant in late 50s greeted him and offered him to sit down on the floor mat. Then, he called the astrologer, the great expert with the saffron clothes, who didn't know the commonly used language in the mundane world. The astrologer appeared to be descending directly from the Himalayas, to meet Ady, to enlighten him. Assistant took fingerprints of all ten fingers of Ady and handed over to the astrologer. Then, the astrologer asked Ady a couple of questions. In the result, he told Ady's name, his parents' name, their profession, and other important details about his past. After hearing such precise details, the astrologer gained Ady's full confidence. Ady said, "Guruji, you know everything. I bow down to you. Now enlighten me with my future, what's going to happen in my future ?"
Guruji gave a list of many things. These are few:
  1. You will get the job near your hometown after six months from now.
  2. You will marry a girl, with name Puja, after two years from now.
  3. You will have two kids: one daughter and one boy.
  4. You will open a small startup, that will become a medium size company. Your son will take over your business after your retirement.
  5. You will live happily till the age of 87 years.
Ady thanked Guruji and rushed to meet his father, to tell what's going to happen in his future. He met the father and told the entire story. Father smiled back and said, "why don't you go and join a computer course, to get a job in Information technology company. If you are destined to get the job that astrologer said, you will get it anyway." Ady was not interested in joining the course, but he joined as his father insisted.
Ten months passed by. The Job predicted by the astrologer did not come through. Luckily, Ady got a job in IT, after ten months of the struggle. Ady was little disappointed that Guruji's first prediction did not come true. But, he was still hopeful for the second prediction, to meet Puja. In his second job, he met a lady with name Puja. Puja was looking little older than Ady. But Ady still approached her, by believing in the destiny. "Hi, I am Ady", said Ady. "Oh Hi, I am Puja", said Puja. "What do you do in the free time ", Ady asked. "Free time? are you kidding me? no free time after two kids", said Puja. It was a heartbreaking moment for Ady, as she was not the Puja that Guruji predicted. He thought, Guruji did not clarify if he will first meet Puja, thentwo kids, or will meet Puja withtwo kids. Surprisingly, he also found that Puja was a very common name. He approached many girls with name Puja. But nothing worked out. Ady finally realized that Guruji's second prediction also failed.
After these experiences, Ady realized that there is no substitute for the hard work. There are great astrologers who know about the astrology but it's difficult to find a really knowledgeable astrologer.  Instead of believing in the destiny, Ady now believes in himself and prefers doing the hard work with full determination. William Shakespeare has said it correctly "it is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves."
