Fear of public Speaking

How many of you delivered speech in school when you were a child. Out of you all, how many of you delivered it as a disaster speech? Ankit was one of those.
It was a festival day in school and main speaker for a speech did not appear. Teacher asked Ankit to fill-up speaker position for his friend who could not make it. Ankit was school top ranker in his class. He had very good credibility. Ankit knew topic very well but when he stood up to speak, he felt fear.
Topic of speech was:Indira Gandhi. Ankit started his speech: Indira Gandhi, ex prime minister of India had two sounds: Rajiv Gandhi,Mahatma Gandhi. The moment he said Mahatma Gandhi, everyone started laughing because Mahatma Gandhi was elderly person to India Gandhi, like her father. Indira Gandhi had two sons: Sanjay and Rajiv Gandhi.
From that experience onwards, whenever Ankit had to give speech, he always remembered that bad moment  when many people laughed at him. He used to think: Why you all looking at me. In reality, it has to be like that as they are supposed to listen the speaker.
Ankit is working on his speaking skill. He found three issues:
1. Bad experience of Childhood time as speaker
2. English accent problem
3. An introvert personality
Ankit is working on these problems in first three steps:
1. Acknowledge the problem
2. Join Public speaking class to get environment of learning
3. Practice speaking and realize that it okay to fail because if someone does not try and fear from failure, can't succeed.

No one even complaints about a speech being too short :) ( By Ira Hayes)
